ESDC 30 the ESD generator simulator is a part of the
immunity standards described by the International Electronic Commission (IEC).
The IEC 1000-4-2 standard specifies a method of establishing a common and
reproducible basis for evaluating the performance of electric and
electronic equipment when subjected to ESD pulses.

Considerable
efforts have been made to
reduce the weight and the size of the
test
pistol to an absolute minimum.
The shape has proven to offer
optimal ergonomics
when working with contact discharge as well as
with air discharge.
The ESD generator is divided into two parts.
A small and
lightweight pistol only containing the necessary high voltage
electronics and a controller containing all the control and user
interface.
A thin and highly flexible cable with no voltages
exceeding 24V connects the two parts.

The pistol has the following

insuring a pleasant working situation, even for longer periods of time

The standard - ESDP 33 - pistol is equipped with 330
ohms / 150pF discharge network

Automatic detecting of test finger present
A new and unique function in the ESD simulator is the
so-called fail/stop function. The fail/stop function makes it possible to
halt a programmed test or sequence when the EUT fails and this fault is
detected by a control circuit. The fail/stop function is controlled by a
optical fiber input. There exist thus no galvanic coupling between
the EUT and the simulator which can create problems.
The combination of the fail/stop function and the
possibility of halting a test sequence is particular useful when examining
if is a change made is for the better or worse.
Programmed test sequences can easily be saved in the
user memory for later use. It is therefore easy and accurate to repeat a
previous test.

ESD Generator kit includes ESDP 33 standard
pistol, discharge return cable and a set of 470 k ohms molded carbon high
voltage / high current resistors with cable.
