JP30A High Voltage Insulation Resistance Tester is a mains operated 30 kV non-destructive insulation tester for stationary use as a bench instrument in laboratories, production and quality control departments. 
An effective current limit circuit makes the operation safe despite the high voltage. 
An active LP-filter in series with an integrated audio amplifier feeds a built-in loudspeaker providing an audible ionization indication.

Ionization Indication

 

 

 An active L.P. filter in series with an integrated audio amplifier feeds a  loudspeaker providing an audible ionization indication. Amplifier gain is adjusted with a potentiometer. An output panel connector provides external indication on headphones or on an oscilloscope. 
Min. load 100Ω.
Meter Outputs 5V full-scale meter outputs are provided on a panel connector. 
Min. load 10kΩ.
Guard Terminal  For connection to guard electrode. Current to this terminal bypasses the current meter.
Test Voltage

 

 

 0-3 kV, 0-10 kV and 0-30 kV DC; adjusted by means of a 10-turn potentiometer.
Test voltage is applied to an insulated test probe via a shielded coaxial cable. Two interchangeable probe tips are supplied with the test probe for JP30A. One ball pointed for use from 12-30 kV and one 4 mm straight-tipped for 0-12 kV applications.
Test Voltage Switch

 

 Spring-loaded switch, located on front panel. 
A panel connector for external switching is also found on the front panel too.
Voltmeter Three ranges, 3 kV, 10 kV and 30 kV full-scale.
Accuracy ±5%.
Max Output Current

 

 Approximately 150 µA at 30 kV increasing to 200 µA at 8 kV, decreasing to 100 µA at 2 kV and to ³2 µA when the output is shorted.
Current Meter Three ranges 1 µA - 10 µA - 100 µA full scale.
Accuracy: ±5%.

Output Resistance

 

 Approximately 600 kΩ from 30 kV to 10 kV.
200 kΩ from 10 kV to 3 kV. 60 kΩ from 3kV to
2 kV measured by I out = 100 µA
