LINEAR POWER AMPLIFIERS

HERO ® PA 9705
Line Simulation
Power Amplifier

  • Line simulation

  • Arbitrary, linear regulated

  • Precision Power Amplifier

  • Line simulation according to IEC

External input

The BNC input may float to 30V max. referred to ground (earth) and is protected by a bipolar OVP diode. Input voltage for 100% output value is ± 4V DC alt. 2,8Veff. Input overvoltage protection is ± 100V.

Input Coupling

The input coupling is selected with the push button “AC / DC”. DC coupling is an R-coupling - the frequency range begins at DC. AC coupling is a C-coupling; DC signals are not transferred. The upper frequency limit is the same for both settings.

HERO ® arbitrary Precision Power Amplifiers

Sinus-Source

The PA9705 is fitted with an internal sinus generator. Using the push buttons "UP" and "DOWN" one may select between the external input (BNC), 6 fixed and 2 variable signal sources. In range B1, fixed output voltages of 230V, 253V and 207Veff. at 50Hz or 60Hz may be selected. When "VAR" is chosen, it is possible to vary the output voltage from 190V to 230Veff  using the relevant screwdriver-potentiometer. In range B2, these values must be halved. The status is displayed by the LEDs.

Output – Range

Range B1: 280 Veff             Range B2: 115 Veff

The desired range is selected using the push buttons. When in range B2, the values displayed by the sinus-generator must be halved (LED - B2: UA/2). Range selection can only be made when the power supply is off "AUS" (=amplifier "AUS")

Power Supply – Status

The power supply is turned on “EIN” and off “AUS” by the respective push buttons. The status is displayed by the LEDs. Error LEDs “Ý Fehler” and “Übertemperatur” will light, should the transformer temperature exceed the limited value. Should this occur, the power supply is automatically turned off. The power supply may also be turned off via the external interlock connection (DB9).

Amplifier

The amplifier is turned on “EIN” and off “AUS” by the respective push buttons.
The status is displayed by the LEDs.
The amplifier may also be turned off via
the external interlock connection (DB9). The amplifier is fitted with over temperature protection and power dissipation cut-off.

Ý Temperature

Displays relative temperature in °C

Power Dissipation

Displays the current power dissipation in % of the max. allowed power dissipation.

UA / JA Displays

Two 3 1/2 digit digital displays for UA EFF |DC| [V] and JA EFF |DC| [A]. HERO ® effective value displays work from DC to MHz,  t = 1 sec. The transfer range to DC is ca. 5 Hz.

UA / JA / JICS Monitors

Isolated BNC outputs for the momentary values UA / JA / JICS. The monitors are isolated from the amplifiers‘ input and output, allowing for problem free measurements.

Scale:

UA: ± 1V UM = ± 100V UA

JA: ± 1V UM = ± 100V JA

JI: ± 1V UM = ± 100V JI

Options

HERO ® Inrush Current Source, RS232/S485 Schnittstelle

The optional ICS raises the peak current capability of the amplifier to over 1000A, allowing determination of the maximal inrush current for any chosen test object.
