Due to the first particularity, the zoom function, large
currents or high voltages can be achieved next to the automatic
switching over between the conversation with necessary constant
output voltage (CV) or constant output current (CC) according to
requirements, due to its characteristics in the output zone for
constant current, even with low voltages or current intensities.
Thus, for example, with an output
power of 750W, power supply unit EX-750L allows to vary voltage
any way required within the range of 15 to 60V. This means that
one unit fulfills all functions which were so far fulfilled by the
power supply units with nominal values 15V/50A, 30V/25A and
60V/12A.

Modular
design

Worldwide application
Next to these features, switching over the input voltage
within a range of 85V to 264V is not required for the EX Series.
This permits applications with all grid voltages presently in use
in the whole world.

Energy
saving and clean
The EX Series furthermore has the following characteristics:
1. Conductivity coefficient larger
than 0.99
2. Efficiency larger than 0.8
3. Low noise level (distortion factor lower
than 5 %)
Usually, the power coefficient of
switching power supply units is approximately 0.5, and 0.7 for
"dropper" power supply units. This means that the EX
Series reaches practically ideal values. Thus, primary power
supply may be reduced consequently, which means that significant
differences will be achieved when using many units, or in the case
of power supply units with large capacities.
The power coefficient of 0.8 is as
large as for switching power supply units, and thus 1.5 times as
large as for "dropper" power supply units. In the
following, heat generation is low and the power supply units can
thus be designed to be compact and light. High power coefficient
and efficiency, as well as room and energy saving characteristics
are the main factors which enhance the application of these units
under the most varied conditions.
Next to the high power coefficient
and to the high efficiency, the noise level of the EX Series could
be reduced to the absolute minimum of 1/10 related to that of
switching power supply units, and of 1/5 related to the value of
"dropper" power supply units. This permitted a (huge)
improvement of the effects of the power supply unit’s noise
level on the following units ("low noise feature").

Fast
programming, variable fan velocity…
The power supply units of the EX Series also have excellent characteristics
as flexibly programmable units:
1. A "stability feedback
circuit" assures a stable
output power under the most varied load
conditions and also assures ideal
compensation of sudden changes.
2. Stable supply even in case of
extremely
reduced output power. A smooth tuning is
possibly already for 0V or 0A.
3. Minimum reaction times to
program orders
and compensation of the voltage drop due to
the length of the cable through remote sensing
allow for exact maintaining of the required
voltages.
4. The following units are
protected through
overcharge/over voltage protection (OVP/OCP).
5. Fan motors with variable
velocity, high
capacity laminate ceramic capacitors, a
special platinum coating and the application of
know-how gained from intensive research of
the flow conditions in the unit have
contributed
to reduce the noise level and to increase even
more the reliability of the units.
