These power supplies are designed for cabinet-, 19“-rack- and chassis mounting. The use of state-of-the-art switch mode technology, makes it possible to get high power in a compact and light weight device.

The power supplies are available with the following nominal output voltages: 12V, 24V and 48V

The output voltage can be adjusted within the specified range by an internal trimmer. An integrated overvoltage (OVP) circuit protects the unit and the load against unlimited overvoltage. The OVP voltage can be adjusted within the specified range by means of an internal trimmer.

The units are short circuit and over temperature proof. The output current is limited according to the V/I characteristic. The high efficiency (84 to 86%) results in low heat dissipation and low energy consumption compared to linear regulated power supplies.

OPTION “REM“: Voltage (V) and current (I) can be remotely programmed by means of an external voltage of 0...10V. Two monitor signals from 0...10V are for monitoring the output voltage and current for 0 up to the max. rated value. A reference voltage of 10V is also available, so it is possible to use potentiometers for external programming.

The output can be remotely switched ON/OFF.

These in- and outputs are available on a 15-pole Sub-D-socket.

The mains voltage is connected via an IEC 320  socket to the units. The load can be connected via a screw terminal.

The mains voltage is 115/230V ±15%.

A pull release and a cover attachment for the load connection terminal can be delivered as option, suffix “ZA“.

General

This  series of battery chargers feature the latest switched mode technology. This state of the art technology has  high efficiency and therefore low heat dissipation and less energy consumption. The units are suitable for charging Lead-Acid 12V and 24V batteries. When  the max. charging voltage is achieved the unit will automatically switch over to trickle charge to maintain the full capacity. The charging current is indicated on the ammeter. The units are suitable for parallel redundant operation (uninterruptible DC-power supply). The input voltage is 115V or 230V AC which is selectable inside the unit.

Temperature dependable Regulation

An external temperature sensor can be connected to the unit, so the max. charging voltage is regulated according to the battery temperature.

Over voltage Protection

To protect the unit or the battery against over voltages, the unit will shut down above a certain voltage. This voltage is variable inside the unit. Reset by power OFF and ON. The units are available as bench version (SMB) or as rack version (SMR). The output sockets on the bench version are located on the front panel. On the rear panel there is a reverse polarity protected output socket.

Options

The bench units have an optional  combined carry handle and tilt stand (suffix "TG"). The rack mounting units can be delivered with a pull release and cover attachment for the load and mains connection terminal as an option (suffix "ZA"). Option rail mounting suffix "SM". The units are also available as bench versions.

Automatic Boost Charging

When switching the unit on the battery will be checked for a period of approx. 30 seconds, then the unit will automatically start on boost- or normal charge according to the battery condition. The boost charging mode will be active as long the charging current is above a certain value but not longer than 4 hours. The value of the boost charging voltage can be set inside the unit.
