107A SINGLE AND THREE PHASE HIGH SPEED POWER ANALYZER
|
|
|
107A High Speed
Power Analyzer
107A High
Speed Power Analyzer is a very advanced measurement tool designed to offer the
scientist, engineer, or technician more electrical and mechanical signal
information than is normally found in one single instrument.
The Model 107A Power
Analyzers are multipurpose instruments designed for laboratory and field
use, for production testing and quality control. High accuracy, wide
frequency range, and high common mode rejection are prerequisites for
precision measurements on inverters, light ballasts, and ultrasonic
transducers. The 107A measurement capabilities and simplicity of use are
unmatched.

Six menu
soft keys M1 through M6 and five cursor soft keys control the
instrument.
The operating procedure, to configure the display and the interface,
to store instrument settings, to set the scaling factors, to select
the operating mode, to select the input, the ranges, and many more
features is self explanatory. You can save your personal instrument
settings and have the unit start-up with your personal configuration
at power-on.
Efficient data processing permits simultaneous measurements on all
three phases of a three phase system and yields comprehensive signal
information including RMS and power values, harmonics, phase angles,
and where applicable mechanical power output, torque, efficiency, and
slip.
|
A programmable data logging function permits to transfer of up to 500 RMS
and power values per second to a personal computer. Using the
operating software plots of power versus time or speed, or current
versus time or frequency are easily generated. The 107A Power Analyzers
determines electrical motor torque applied to its load. No torque
transducers are needed. Induction motors and dc motors require a speed
transducer, synchronous motors do not. A special operating mode for
dynamic torque measurement in the air gap of a generator or motor
provides plots of torque versus speed, frequency, or time and helps to
detect undesirable peaks.

Application Examples
|
|
Dynamic Process
Measurement
|
|
|
|
Rotating
machine is idling. At time=0 a variable load is applied to the
machine until it
comes to a halt. Current, voltage, and power of each phase needs to
be plotted versus time.
STEP
1: Rotating machine is idling, the 107A synchronizes to the
machine frequency.
STEP 2: Apply the load, at the same time close switch S1
STEP 3: Upon closing of S1 the 107A starts data transmission
to the computer.
STEP 4: 107A terminates data transmission when programmed
duration is reached.
STEP 5: View data file and plot if desired.
|
|
Dynamic Torque
Measurement on an Induction Motor
|
|
|
|
|
|
A speed
transducer is attached to the induction motor and its signal is fed
to the 107A
(synchronous motors do not require a speed transducer). The motor is
subjected to load
changes and the resulting air gap torque needs to be plotted versus
time.
STEP
1: Program 107A for desired speed and duration of measurement.
STEP 2: Run motor, close switch S1 at start of loading
sequence.
STEP 3: 107A transmits measurement data to the computer for
the programmed length of time.
STEP 4: View data file and plot torque versus speed or time.
|
|
Measurement Current
Harmonics According to IEC1000-3-2 in 3 phase system
|
|
|
|
|
|
Example:
Run an on-line compliance test of 3 phases simultaneously.
STEP
1: Select software on PC for IEC1000-3-2 testing select range
of harmonics,
load data file of current harmonic limits.
STEP 2: Turn on equipment. The harmonics of 3 phases are
displayed on line.
STEP 3: Current harmonics exceeding allowed limits turn on
a red light.
STEP 4: Store the current values and print or plot them for
your record.
