The unit is used to check cable for leakage 
before major down time is incurred by 
reading the micro amp corona around 
single or 3-phase wiring and on motors up 
close to the peckerhead. 
The unit is also excellent for checking 
splices for leakage.

As insulation ages, it’s insulating properties often deteriorate.
